A Family Standing with Your Family – At least 7.5 million individuals over the age of 16 with intellectual and developmental disabilities live in non-institutional settings.
At Covenant Ability Network (CAN), we understand the challenges families face in helping their loved ones grow in spirit and self-sufficiency. We promote a fulfilling lifestyle for developmentally disabled adults. Enabling an enhanced quality of life – whether that is living independently, being gainfully employed or making a meaningful contribution to society-is the heart of our mission.

Our Approach
Independence
Establishing a career. Pursuing social and recreational opportunities. Planning for the future. For most of us, these are a part of a natural progression toward an independent life. But for developmentally disabled adults, they can be an elusive dream. Covenant Ability Network offers a rewarding community lifestyle, training, and expert, individualized attention that helps foster independence-oriented skills.
Security
Parents of developmentally disabled adults often confront a shortage of community resources and are forced to cobble together stopgap services. Covenant Ability Network can provide carefully monitored programs within a safe, secure environment that offers a Christian alternative to secular government and agency programs.
Fulfillment
Enhancing emotional, intellectual, physical, social, spiritual and vocational health can lead to a richer, more fulfilling lifestyle for our CAN residents and those who receive our services. Enabling independence sends a message to our disabled population: “I care about you. You are important.”
Network of Commitment
Behind our growing CAN family is a network of commitment, collaboration and community. We provide our residential programs and services in partnership with the congregations of the Evangelical Covenant Church, which has cared for those in need since 1886. Covenant Ability Network and other ministries of the church are administered under the auspices of Covenant Ministries of Benevolence.
Founded by Swedish immigrants, the Evangelical Covenant Church is a rapidly growing multi-ethnic denomination in the U.S. and Canada with ministries on five continents. The church values the Bible as the Word of God, the gift of God’s grace and ever-deepening spiritual life that comes through faith in Jesus Christ.
Decades of Outreach
The importance of extending God’s love and compassion is clearly evident in CAN programs for developmentally disabled adults. Small, intimate and inviting, each residential community makes a tremendous impact on the lives of the developmentally disabled adults and their families who receive the warm embrace of the CAN family. Supportive services expand that reach to those in the local community.
